The History of Niya-Yur so far
The ancient ones are a mysterious race of people that are known to be generally like all the major races. Who they were and where they went is completely lost to time. There are ancient citadels and places of vast powers left behind that do not work in any way understood by the mages or artificers of all the great races. If the gods know anything they've never said, suggested, or answered questions about the ancients.
A fantastic society once existed that spanned the world. This society could travel to any place they desired in incredible shining ships. It is thought the Emerald Heart is the last of these ships that myth says were alive. This society went too far and tried to control the powers of the gods themselves. They could not and it destroyed them so utterly no one knows where they were. It is said the capital was a city of water and floating palaces that sat on the edge of the ocean. Explorers have searched the coastlines of Niya-Yur hoping to find a trace of them. So far only a few artifacts exist to prove they existed at all.
More ancient than the missing society and possibly a city of the ancients is Sandeep. Legends speak of an incredible invisible city were ships that sailed the stars were built. Two archeologists explorers have claimed to have found Sandeep. The first was proven to be false after his death. The second returned to write a book detailing a hidden city of immense beauty and power ruled by a democratic council that holds to the ancient laws of the forgotten origins of the great races.
A nation of mages ruled by an overlord once existed on a large island off the northeastern coast of Duianna lands. But, this nation's most powerful mage lords tried to force Duke to give them the secret of his immortality. When he refused and resisted all their efforts they used the powers of their nation to destroy him stealing some of his rejuvenating powers. With Duke gone, they set about conquering the other nations who could not resist their might. A thousand years after they thought they succeeded in destroying Duke and his influence, Duke returned and sank their entire nation to the depths of the ocean. It is said that Duke granted the still living ancient mages who tried to destroy him, their much sought after immortality and then bound them to the roots of their island at the bottom of the ocean with metals made by the ancient ones that would never degrade to drown for all eternity.
Current Species & Cultures
The great races are the gods, elves, dwarves, forest spirits of all kinds, halflings, and humans. All the races appear to be of similar origins. But the elves and dwarves claim to come from someplace that did not have humans.
Needs & Relations
Dwarves live far to the south in the mountains of the southernmost coastlines. Elves live in the great forest at the center of the northern part of the continent and are rarely seen outside of their homelands. Halflings have villages in all the realms and freely move about but generally stay in their farming villages making various brews like beer, ale, and malt liquors. Humans of many tribes, nationalities, and types exist across the realms.
