Golem Building Rope Material in Niya-Yur | World Anvil

Golem Building Rope

In order to create automata or golems, one needs some rather mundane items like the base materials for the body parts and of course something to hold them all together. A rather unusual form of rope materials has been for sale in areas around Darrian Ocean for hundreds of years. The merchants who bring these materials to market have successfully kept the manufacturing sources secret. Many believe the source to be a tribe in Karakia. Others are not so sure.   The truth is even more interesting than fiction in this odd case of unusual components. Many mages have attempted to reproduce the unique ropes without success, so far.   What is known is that in Selepp, Arrur, Marthy, Eppon, and most prominently Llino in Aelargo Golem Building Rope can be found in most magic stores and even sometimes for sale as large bulk shipments in the open traders' markets.   This rope is made from an unknown material that is significantly stronger than hemp or other ropes. The Golem Building Rope for all its strength is also immensely flexible making it perfect for creating joints and connections between the parts of automata.   The only reason Golem Building Rope has not replaced other ropes is how incredibly expensive it is selling for as much as a full gold crown per foot. The reason the suppliers of this rope can charge such amazing prices for a twisted plant material made into a rope is that the material is saturated with a mix of minerals which allow it to conduct mana as easily as copper conducts electricity. When the material is woven into various forms it easily takes up imprints of spells allowing it to animate golems or be used for other mage effects.   Unlike other material components for spells, the Golem Building Rope is also uniquely capable of being reused a number of times. This is only capable a number of times based on the age of the rope and the effectiveness of the necessary cleansing spells and preparations.     Source of Golem Binding Rope
Swamps, despite whatever is said, are not water filters. A shady rover might be, but a swamp is essentially a giant muddy puddle. A puddle you very much do not want to drink out of. But, if you live in one you eventually learn about how to effectively use the resources it does provide. This is the case for the Green Snake Kobold Clan living in the Spornusa Swamps at the far eastern edge of Aelargo. One of the more unique aspects of this swamp is that it is formed by the large amounts of silt and other debris that is cleaned out of the great trade channels and Bearfoot Sea by the Channel Maintenence Crabs.   Due to various elements and trash dumped into the waters from all the great cities combined with the waste output of the great sea walls, the silt contains a wide variety of magical and natural materials. The microorganisms in the swamps are specifically designed to ensure proper breakdown of the materials and the specially bred plants that safely consume the final rich nutrients the swamp is the collector of residual magical and mundane materials. The plants and mud of the Spornusa Swamps are therefore extremely magically reactive.   The Green Snake Kobold Clan has learned this and makes many of their tools and items with their specialized knowledge. Naturally, one of the more interesting items they have in abundance is the vines and tall grasses which they have learned to process into ropes. The overall process is not far from normal rope production, but there are a few special steps to achieve the flexibility and magical conduit characteristics. They do this specifically to export and it provides over 90% of their export income.

Glad you liked it. I was very pleased to be able to tie it to other Summer Camp articles. Makes it look like I might actually have a plan.
