Eletta
Holy cities built on hope — where one has fallen, the other shines brighter than before.
Every day, I look upon it. Can you believe it? This used to belong to a saint of eld! I suppose it's a bit gruesome, in a way. I mean, they're real bones, right?Eletta is the principal holy city of the Church of Dawn, worshipers of Vosra, the New Dawn, who reside in Vynarsa.
Saints' Walk
There was never a time in Eletta's history where it was not a home to the most devout worshipers of the gods. Faith in the New Dawn is a staple for those who live in Eletta, though countless other faiths have grown and formed through time, growing and changing alongside the Church of Dawn.Holy Bones
For its service to the Church of Dawn, Eletta was bestowed a holy gift: a relic, said to have belonged to a great saint of Vynarsa's past. This historical saint, Gaelena, has her story told in myth and reverence all across Vynarsa. A fabled healer, Saint Gaelena was said to have played a major role in a historical plague, where she healed thousands before ultimately succumbing to the illness she could not cure in herself, as she could for others. Her relic, known as Gaelena's Hold, is one visited by many in search of healing. Pilgrims often visit the relic for the opportunity to place their hands upon it, as the plague sufferers of old once did, in the hopes that their ailments can be washed away by Gaelena's holy influence. The relic sits, loosely guarded, in Eletta's principal church.Kinship Lost
Throughout history, Eletta and its neighbor, Entelen, have considered one another to be kin. Their shared faith drove them to build and grow together, lending their sister cities mutual aid whenever a call was made, and receiving it in kind. This was a joyful partnership for nearly as long as Vynarsa was known to exist, the two cities working together in the early development of the Church of Dawn, after Entelen set its formation and foundations in motion. This relationship found itself shattered in the wake of a conflict now known as the Siege of Eletta, in which their former sister city invoked a great violence upon their gates and holy districts. As the Entelians jealously scoured the city for a prize they coveted, fought back by the very church they set out to form, they permanently eroded the trust and love the two cities had for one another. The word of Vosra bids the people to temper their hatred, but a deep distrust sits in the hearts of the people.Entelen
Worthy of the Gift
Despite being the victim of Entelen's actions in the Siege of Eletta, and having its heart shattered by their decisions, the city yet kept its heart open to reconciliation. Though this gesture was denied by Entelen in shame, the city's willingness to forgive and push forward only served to reinforce Eletta's worthiness in the eyes of the Church of Dawn, in regard to being granted the gift of Gaelena's Hold.Prayer for Redemption
Both Eletta and Entelen were devoted worshipers of Vosra, the New Dawn — but the siege saw Entelen defeated and excommunicated from the Church of Dawn. Eletta lamented the loss of their sister city, both in heart and in faith, but watch with hope in their hearts as Entelen found solace in a fragment of Vosra, born from their actions: Vosra, the Redeemer.Want Secrets?
