Kitada Kitsune Mask

A white tenko (heavenly fox) mask with red details around the eyes, mouth, ears, and stripes on the cheeks. Wild white tufts extend to form its eyebrows and whiskers. The eyes are gold.

Powers

The mask magically bonds with the wearer and will only accept one at a time. Once switched to a new wearer, the mask may not accept old one again. If the wearer is human, the mask takes on a heavenly fox visage. If the wearer is a fox it transforms to an okina (wise old god) style.
When the wearer dons it, it seals to the wearer's face. Never fear. The mask can be easily removed, but only by the wearer. Once on, the wearer can't feel it. Also, it 'melds' with the wearers eyes so there is no vision restriction. Their eyes turn a honey amber color and develop a slitted pupil, just like a red fox.

History

The mask was made by renown Kyougen mask maker Kitada Tsuro in 1768 near Sendai.

He created it as a gift for his favorite actor. It's said that he imbued it with special powers beyond what's been discovered above. But the mask hasn't accepted a wearer for over a century, so claims cannot be confirmed.

The powers were to help the actor understand Kitada and to help protect the actor from a group conspired to ruin him.
