Prose Special Category World Ember 2022
If you're planning to enter the Prose Special Category for World Ember 2022, I have a quick list of things I'll be looking for.

• Length
  
  The official World Ember page lists a preference of 5K words or less, which is a good limit. I know, I know, sometimes you need more words to get out what you need to say (I'm an author too!), but please, no longer than 8K.
• Worldbuilding
  
  WorldEmber is a worldbuilding event, even when it comes to prose. Things like myths, legends, encyclopedic entries, diary entries, newspaper articles, interviews with characters, etc., fall under this umbrella (get creative! These are just general suggestions if you're not certain where to begin).
  Worldbuilding is the key here; the next chapter to your wondrous serial doesn't count.
• Neatness
  
  Prose is long, so neatness is important. Your style is your choice, as long as it is easy to follow.
• Flow and Readability
  
  Since this is the Prose special category, I'll be looking at how the words fit together and flow. This includes how writers deal with breaks in the text so their readers can absorb what they have just said.
• Creative and Interesting
  
  Even the most mundane can be refreshed with a new take.
• Images
  
  If you want to include images, great! but they're not necessary.
• Spellcheck
  
  Everyone makes mistakes, but spellcheck will catch most misspellings. You can add Grammarly to your browser for free. A misspelled word or two won't bother me, but more than a handful will.
• Any genre works!
  
  The prose article just needs to help build your world!
• Don't Plagiarize
  
  This will make me grrr.
