Bure is one of the most important plants on Vondren, especially in the Monev Calv. This semi-aquatic plant is fast growing, easy to maintain, and extremely useful in everything from food to housing.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

They prefer warm wet environments and with plenty of standing water.

Additional Information

Domestication

While they are already a fast growing and easy to care for plant, they've been bred to spread faster and taste better.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Bure is extremely versatile in its usage. Every part of the tall reedy plant can be used in some form or another.   The roots are used in medicine.   The shoots and leaves are edible and very tasty. The leaves are also used in making beverages like tea and beer, as well as fiber for cloth and paper when mashed. And the skin on the shoots is used as a food preservative.   The small 'branch' like parts that shoot of the main 'trunk' can be used to make waterproof mats, rope, footwear, baskets, and even woven boats.   The large trunk like stalks are useful in construction and are easy to transport by even one person due to their light weight. They bean easily when heated and keep their shape. They're used to make beautiful and intricately crafted buildings, bridges, roads, jewelry, scaffolding, furniture, toys, dining apparatus, and musical instruments.

Found naturally in Monev Calv and Della Voan, Bure has been imported to, and thrived on, both Vondren and Jaumun as well as the space stations.
