SC26 Pledge
Once again, my favorite event of the year is almost here! Summer Camp 2026 marks my 7th WAnniversary and my 8th Summer Camp. Real life has slowed down my worldbuilding, but I'm ready to dive back in and see how much I can write in the coming months!
I’m not sure what templates will come up with this theme, but I have a feeling I will be spending some time with the Dwarves, whether that be the Iron Dwarves of the mountains or the Gem Dwarves of the depths. These are some of my favorite people in the world and I never miss an opportunity to add to their lore.
No matter the templates, this theme makes me think I will be putting my agriculture background to work at least a little bit, even if that means stretching the prompts. No world can exist without those who work the land, bringing forth food and goods that everyone uses. While there are other types of growth, I do enjoy delving into the farming and ranching side a bit more.
Whatever templates come with this theme, I feel like I will be delving into more of the deep history of the world, especially things that are closely related to the Eldritch War. It also may be a good time to work on worldbuilding that has more to do with the ancient history of the world, the 900,000+ years before the Eldritch War sundered the world.
Obviously I hope that the organization template is common within this theme so I can add some more of these amazing families to the world, but I'm also curious to see what other templates show up and how I can tie them into the greater narrative that some of these families have. It also means I might have a chance to make some more massive family trees that may not quite make it into WA.
Summer Camp 2026 Pledge
by
World Anvil
My Summer Camp pledge is to be part of Polina "Line" Arteev's club, the Dewy Diamonds, and have a chill Summer Camp while completing as many prompts as I can.
Theme Preparation
With a world as big as Isekai, Summer Camp means going a bit wide with themes and squashing a stub or two along the way. This approach has been great the last couple of years, so there's no point in changing now. Isekai will forever continue to grow, so squashing stubs is a never-ending battle.Love
The theme of love and spring instantly make me think of the Dwarves, people who love their trades and jobs more than any other race in Isekai. While many see them as a gruff race, this is far from the truth as these people pour so much of themselves into whatever they do, shaping whatever they are making with pride and a deep-seated love of quality.I’m not sure what templates will come up with this theme, but I have a feeling I will be spending some time with the Dwarves, whether that be the Iron Dwarves of the mountains or the Gem Dwarves of the depths. These are some of my favorite people in the world and I never miss an opportunity to add to their lore.
Growth
The theme of growth and summer makes me think of the Clay Giants and their love of all things agriculture as well as the Little Greenwood and the stout fruit trees. While I have actually delved into the agriculture of the Clay Giants numerous times, the flora of the Little Greenwood is an area that is lacking that could easily be added to with these themes.
Loss
Isekai is built on the theme of loss. From the conflicts throughout the ages to the Eldritch War that shredded the land, the world has survived loss after loss but has bounced back, building anew and moving forward. This is a theme that can cross into so many areas of the world and in many ways, that makes this theme both easy, and slightly difficult.Whatever templates come with this theme, I feel like I will be delving into more of the deep history of the world, especially things that are closely related to the Eldritch War. It also may be a good time to work on worldbuilding that has more to do with the ancient history of the world, the 900,000+ years before the Eldritch War sundered the world.
Family
Families are something that I have written about since the earliest days of Isekai. From families that are nothing more than hunters in a small village to noble families with lineages that harken back to the earliest days of the world, these groups of people are so important to the storytelling of the world and making it feel alive.Obviously I hope that the organization template is common within this theme so I can add some more of these amazing families to the world, but I'm also curious to see what other templates show up and how I can tie them into the greater narrative that some of these families have. It also means I might have a chance to make some more massive family trees that may not quite make it into WA.
Side Quests
Article Updates
Honestly, this is something that will never be done. I will continue working on this as time allows.
World Homepage
The world homepage has been working well for us so far, so the only thing really to do is double-check for typos and clean up little things.
World Map
In all the time spent working on the individual maps for the continents, the world map has been ignored. I want to add pins, polygraphs, and all sorts of other information to this map to get it up to speed.
Master Timeline
Isekai's history is long, and it's time to get back to adding that history to the master timeline as well as sorting out just how to get 900,000 years of history to display properly without having to use list mode.
World Meta
Much like the world homepage, the current world meta has been working well so far, so nothing more needs to be done other than double-checking for typos and other issues.
Area of Focus
As in past years, I will keep my focus on the Northern Continent of Isekai unless something drives me elsewhere. This guarantees that what gets written will end up in our current campaign.
Read a Book/Favorite Fictional World
This prep comes at the perfect time! I have spent the last few months rereading the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, a series that I would call my Roman Empire. While Isekai may be far removed from the fantasy tropes of this series, it's still great inspiration.
Inspiration!
Playlists are ready, notes are compiled from museum trips, and I've had some time to look at some of the other amazing worldbuilders here! There are just far too many amazing worlds to name.
Writing Space
Desk is clean and ready, cups have been prepared, and snacks are close at hand!
Accountability Buddy
While he may not participate in Summer Camp, Shiftrex is stuck spending the month listening to half-baked ideas and looking at shiny pages as I make them.

WOOO Lets go, I can't wait to see all the amazing stuff you come up with!
