Bear Folk of the Tundras

Small igloos dot the landscape, often buried by deep snows that move with the winds, the only marker that people live in this desolate landscape. The white fur of these people not only warms them against the chill of winter but hides them in the stark sunlight, blending them into the shifting landscape. Few choose to live in such horrid conditions, fewer still were gifted by the gods to survive and thrive in such places.
The Nether are the most inclined of the Ursakin to the desolation and chill of the northern and southern reaches of the world. Resembling Nordland Bears, these people have thick skin and plush fur that allows them to thrive, even when civilization and a temperate climate are thousands of miles away. More solitary than other Ursakin, these people rely on themselves and their families, carving out places for themselves amongst the landscape.

Anatomy

All Ursakin share anatomical traits with Humans with some major differences. Ursakin have fur that covers their entire body and sharp claws that are suited for digging or shredding.
The Nether vary slightly from other Ursakin as they have black skin that is covered in plush white fur that consists of hollow strands that keep in heat and allow them to swim in cold water. Their claws are sharp and somewhat curved in order to spear fish.

The Nether vary little in color as their fur is meant to serve as a form of camouflage in the snow. Their fur ranges in color from a stark white to some lighter grey tones. The color of their eyes can vary greatly, including shades of amber, brown, grey, blue, and even purple.

Social Structure

The Nether are the most antisocial of the Ursakin, preferring to live in small family units scattered far away from others. They prefer hunting and fishing together with family and expect their children to eventually leave and create their own family units when the time has come.
It is uncommon to see these people living among other races as in warmer climates, their fur can be a hindrance instead of a help. The Nether are the largest of the Ursakin and are often the target of uncomfortable commentary due to their stature and heritage.
