Lu-Rookniu is one of the nine
Horrific Lords of the
Outer Reaches, known in whispers as "She who crawls," Lu-Rookniu is the most widely worshipped of the
Eldritch Beings with her perverse falsehoods permeating the minds of those that conduct sadistic rituals in her name. Her goal is to bring the whole of reality into one physical existence that is perverted and stretched into a grotesque monstrosity of oozing, creeping flesh.
This being masquerades as a goddess of nature, healing, and immortality that spreads her influence through many beings that are convinced of her lies. Despite possessing the ability to exist in other realms she prefers to exist in the mortal realm whenever possible though her existence itself is taxing, even for her power, and in order to exist, she requires constant sacrifice. In order to interact with our world, she requires extensive living creatures to take place both willingly and unwillingly in a ritual that turns them into an amalgamation of twisted, bubbling, flowing flesh that embodies the sentience of the Horrific One. The dimension that she is said to hail from is incomprehensible in nature and rare among the creatures of the
Outer Reaches because she embodies the entirety of life and death in her own dimension. Her followers often liken her to a flowing stream of life, while the wise regard her as an uncontrollable river of madness that absorbs all that it touches and makes it one.
During the
Eldritch War this being was constantly appearing in every corner of Isekai due to her influence and method of interacting with our realm, which she sorely desires further presence in. Her presence was nearly the end of the
Southern Continent, specifically the
Island of Blessings which is known to have been consumed and turned into a place of malice, disgust, and unnatural power. To this day few will venture to the island despite Lu-Rookniu's presence being banished and eradicated from the area during the intervention of the gods.
It is said that this creature is one of the oldest of the
Eldritch Beings, starting from a twisted thought brought to life through morbid curiosity and madness of the creatures of the
Outer Reaches that extend beyond written or spoken knowledge. The simplest explanation of her existence is found in the iconography of her followers, she is depicted as a writhing scab with many eyes that ascends from the abyss to take in the blood and souls of those that participate in her circle. This creature always seeks out a small, hidden presence in the world and waits for her followers to expand her presence through her dictated rituals. From that point she expands, taking in blood, bone, metal, magic and melting it all into one flesh that lacks any true consistency and defies explanation in any conventional or paranormal science. The most recent iconography of Lu-Rookniu is a vat of multi-colored essence, ooze, or smoke with multiple eyes that have their attention scattered about randomly in all directions.
When the living are sacrificed to the
Eldritch Being a different subtley happens based upon whether they were willing or unwilling and is the basis for strict adherence to the rituals of Lu-Rookniu. Those that are sacrificed in dark rituals to this being will find themselves melting into a central point with others of the same type. The unwilling face a slow and horrific end as their body slowly turns to a gelatinous mass, painfully and impossibly melting into a sentient pile of slime in their general shape. This becomes twisted together with other creatures regardless of species where the subjects remain conscious and understanding of their surroundings as their masses fuse together into an abomination that continues to twist and meld into one. The end result is that all bone, organs, and skin deteriorates save for the eyes. The eyes retain their size, shape, and individual characteristics of the living creatures and it is rumored that some tattered remains of consciousness doomed to eternal torment and pain but the fate of the willing is far from merciful. Those that willingly participate in this ritual, including those that perform the ceremony experience their skin, organs, and soft tissues slowly melting over the course of a month leaving their skeletal structures intact, these are a difficult to recognize but powerful type of
Undead. While their soft tissues serve to expand and enlarge the twisted creature of ooze and flesh created from the unwilling and willing the essence of Lu-Rookniu comes to possess it and to hunger.
The
Undead created from the willing participants are stripped of pain, morality, and empathy with other creatures or purposes save for those that are bid by the will of their "goddess." These particular
Undead are called "
Lu" and have a host of abilities that are never seen with the more common
Undead that they share an appearance with, skeletons. These creatures are made of living bone that has an amazing ability to regenerate and to overgrow itself into different structures like weapons, armor, or horrific devices for the capture and torture of the living which they bring back to the initial piece of Lu-Rookniu that they have summoned through their rituals. Through these perverse means, they gain a type of near immortality so long as their mistress lives, expands, and feeds on the flesh and fluids of the living.
The abomination itself will grow in power and ability as it grows in size, feeding off not only the physical tissues that it consumes but on the magical energies and the souls of those that it absorbs. It is said that the dimension that contains her true form is one that has been wholly consumed by her presence and exists as one entity melded together, one existence that is her with countless eyes and wailings of the incomprehensible horrors that exist under her will. This is the end goal of the
Eldritch Being, to consume all and blend them into one undying, suffering mass that her existence permeates.
This is horrifying and disturbing and I love it.
