Felines

Cat Folk

Roars and yowls echo across the open air as the bustling market moves through the day. While some may think these are the sounds of disagreement or even a fight, these are nothing more than the words of Feline, uttered as transactions take place and goods trade hands. Here on the island of Timil, these sounds are common, only disappearing when an outsider has arrived, the feral sounds of Feline often scaring away potential customers. Even outside of the Feline island, these sounds are common in the villages of Nótios, marking an area of progress when the continent seems to lag behind.   Felines are considered one of the oldest Animal Kingdom races, the animalistic people that are still considered among the civilized races of the world. Their role in the Eldritch War was to keep naval trade open so that life could continue with little issue during the worst days. Felines are known for their expertise in sailing and trade, utilizing their reflexes and lithe bodies to fulfill tasks that others cannot easily do.   Currently, they live throughout the world in areas of both flat lands and mountains, but their largest population can be found on the island of Timil in the Zóni. You will find these people in areas where exotic goods can be gathered and traded or where there is room for large "streaks" or "prides" to build large cities. The largest city of the Feline species is a port town called the Salt Lagoon which is central to many of the naval trade routes of the world.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Felines can be found scattered throughout Isekai, but are most commonly found in the plains of the Southern Continent and on the Zóni island of Timil. They prefer to live in large villages, often consisting of other Felines, and create massive networks of trade between their villages. It is believed that these people prefer the Southern Continent due to the origin of the Sphinxes here, but Felines live throughout the world, even in more seaside locations.   Culturally, the various types of felines vary very little, sharing common beliefs and traits as little more than their size and habits separate them. It is common to find those of the Leo, Lynx, Pantera, and Cato varieties living and working together, creating varied villages and towns that are rather advanced for some of the areas in which they live. Trade is central to their way of life, exporting exotic goods to Vóreios and elsewhere with the aid of Fire & Gold, Inc..

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Felines are not known to have inherently mystical abilities, their traits are focused on physical aspects and have to do with their cat-like physiology.   This species has many variations in terms of fur, coloration, claws, and body shape. While these are not overwhelming distinctions, these differences do give advantages in some situations to the various types of Felines. Some are stronger, some lither, and others are experts of stealth, but it all breaks down to biology in relation to what cats they resemble to some extent.   The uniting features that span all variations of Felines are their long tails, fur-covered bodies, sharp claws and teeth, and cat-like reflexes. They are capable of wounding most unprotected creatures with their teeth or claws and enjoy stealth movements as well as climbing.

In the various plains of the world, Felines make their homes in open spaces, most often on the continent of Nótios. Here, their packs can thrive off the land and enjoy the lands that may have once been home to the Sphinxes.

I love that they focused on keeping naval trade open during the Eldritch War. That's such an important role.
