Cerulean Carp

Blue Fish of the Feyline

Many Scholars question whether this fish is truly one of the deep magic of the Fairy King's Wood and the Wandering Forest that colors the waters of the Feyline a sugary pink. The Cerulean Carp is often found in the deep blue waters that border the Elven Forest, but it is quite difficult to define its habitat to such a small area when the waters of the Feyline shift and change as the magic runs through them. The shining blue of the carp's scales is not found elsewhere amongst the fish of the Fairy King's Wood, so the argument continues on which world the Cerulean Carp comes from.

Oftentimes, these fish are noted to be flying through the ripples of the river as their delicate fins are reminiscent of silk-like wings. Depending on the season, these fins can shift in color to either match the waters of the river so that the carp may breed and hatch their spawn in relative safety or become a deeper blue to show off to other fish. It is believed the major shifts in color are relegated to the summer and winter months when the temperature of the water, especially on the side of the Elven Forest, would shift to either colder or warmer, but this has not been fully confirmed.

Cerulean Carp, also referred to as the Blue Fish of the Feyline, is a common fish found in the mixed waters of the Feyline River, often on the side of the Elven Forest. While these fish may have once been mundane, the magically charged waters of the Feyline have granted them some innate magic that extends their lives and deepens the colors of the magnificent fins the fish have.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Cerulean Carp are freshwater fish with large, flowing fins that it can flare in a display of dominance or exhibition. A blue color that is not found elsewhere amongst the fish of the Fairy King's Wood, the carp's deep blue color allow it to hide in the waters of the Feyline with a slight change to its color or to be extremely obvious by changing its color and flaring its fins.

Ecology and Habitats

While commonly found along the Elven Forest banks of the Feyline, Cerulean Carp have been known to travel the length of the river on both sides, dipping into the sugary pink waters frequently. It is believed that the carp can thrive in both waters, even with a difference in temperature, but their spawn must be laid within the waters near the Elven Forest.

If not for its blue color, I would have called it a lion of the sea, its fins spread around it like a flowing mane. Never have I see such a color in the water, but the sky is graced with similar colors in the scales of Dragons.
