Blessed Waters

Magic Waters of the South

Cerulean waters once lapped at white sand beaches, keeping the land around a verdant green, but so much has changed since the days when these magic waters made the fertile lands glow. Now the waters of deepest blue are locked beneath layers of ice, their magic hushed and hidden unless one wishes to explore a dangerous land of hellish cold. Few will ever dare such a trek, but the magic within is tempting, almost enough to draw in the most stalwart.   The Blessed Waters of Heaven's Mirror are magically-infused waters that once made the Island of Blessings the most fertile lands in the world. Beyond feeding the land, the waters were believed to be able to heal Dragons of maladies and others of injuries that were impossible to heal with other magic. In the days before the Eldritch War, many would make the pilgrimage to the Island of Blessings in hopes of the Blessed Waters curing them from whatever ailed them.   But the Eldritch War changed everything. The fertile lands of the Island of Blessings turned into plains of ice and snow, the white beaches of Heaven's Mirror became covered in pulverized glass shards, and the Blessed Waters were hidden beneath layers of ice. Few still attempt to make the pilgrimage, hoping that the Blessed Waters still hold their magic, but the land is unforgiving, now desolate and empty when it was once green and full of life. No one truly knows if the cerulean magic still exists, or if it is little more than a myth and nothing but freezing water waits below.

Manifestation

Before the Eldritch War, the Blessed Waters were crystal clear and a deep blue that allowed one to see to the bottom of Heaven's Mirror and all the creatures that lived beneath the lake's surface. Sporadic magic would often crackle across the top of the water, reminding people that the lake was not just simply water. The beaches were a fine white sand that remained clean and tended not to erode, something that was attributed to the magic of the waters. Underground tributaries fed the lake, allowing the magic of the Blessed Waters to flow across the Island of Blessings, keeping the land green and fertile year-round.   Once the Island of Blessings became a Deadzone, a great number of things changed with the lake and its waters that make many question whether the magical properties of the Blessed Waters still exist. The fine sand beaches of before were replaced with glass shards as fine as dust that often blew around in the freezing winds. The once clear waters became covered in thick layers of ice, up to ten feet thick in some places. Even if one could drill through the ice and reach the water, the crackling magic that was common on the surface seems to have disappeared, leaving behind dark waters that cannot be seen through.

Localization

While various waterways across the world have magical properties, none have such strong magic as the Blessed Waters of Heaven's Mirror. Before the events of the Eldritch War, the Island of Blessings was seen as a land of powerful magic, on par with the land of the Djinn before they disappeared. This magic was strong enough to affect the Divine Races, healing Dragons of things that even their magic could not fix. The powers of the Blessed Waters were meant to be strong enough to supersede any other magic in the world, but only in healing.
Clear Waters
The Blessed Waters of Heaven's Mirror were known for their crystal clear quality that allowed one to see to the bottom of the lake. Even so, the water often shimmered with the magic that flowed through it.
