While the World discovers many natural ways of achieving progress (such as wind- and water power) there are always magical ways to support or replace them.
Cosmology
There was an Inquest sized Hole that Inquest needed to fill. Most people believe that, so it must be true.
Principal Geography & Features
Inquest is shaped by Magic and eons of heroes and villains knowing it better than nature.
Two big mountain ranges separate the island into north and south and make the west end unfit for settlement. Who knows how the Island might have originally looked like? At least now it's home to almost all weathers and types of terrain, often not in the most logical way.
