Personal history
To her knowledge, Sorrow's mother died in childbirth and she was left with her mother's husband. Being that she was Tiefling and this man was Human, he was not her biological father. She was led to believe that her father was a demon that seduced her mother. The man that raised her, Tristan Astorio was a cruel, ruthless and unforgiving man. Sorrow was often reminded that she was responsible for her mother's death, an abomination and a burden. Yet, she still was given the surname Astorio, something she never understood. After Tristan Astorio's death, Sorrow picked her virtue name and shed her birth name and surname hoping to leave the past buried with her dead parents.
She meets a quirky group of adventurers that accidentally assault her but she finds herself drawn to them and starts traveling with them. Is she too trusting? Maybe. But she gets a really good feeling from these odd but amazing people. Somehow she blends with them and they're a pseudo family and Sorrow is happy and content. Even more surprising is Sarzeden Nightseeker, a dragon long thought dead but had been imprisioned instead. She now has a guardian, a being who champions her and believes in her. He even tears apart a realm because he though she was dead. However, her ties to Sarzeden are because of her surname. But, naively she doesn't think much beyond that.
But her blissful ignorance bubble bursts during a conversation with The Keeper, when Sorrow and her friends were trying to fix time (that Dryjog broke) Sorrow learns that her mother is alive. The Keeper does not share much more information beyond that, except that perhaps Sorrow's mother thought her dead as well (maybe?). Sorrow's mother was involved with or orchestrated the experimentation on Zachres' body after he died saving her. She and her friends learn that Zachres' was killed, repeatedly in order to keep him contained and unable to free himself. In Sorrow's mind, her mother cannot possibly be a good person or be on the right side of the Cervarian conflict raging in Freyna. Sorrow always saw her mother as a victim but now it seems she is the villian. She doesn't have long to dwell on this because they save Zachres, end up in a nothing realm and use the eye of the oracle to time travel.
Now that she and her friends have traveled over 1,000 years in the past, she is faced with the potential for answers or at least knowledge of her family history. Sorrow knew nothing of the Astorio name but in her recent travels and adventures, the name is more significant than she ever knew.
