    History

Brudenia, the floating utopian crystal infused city, rose into the skies upon the back of Sarzedan, the Nightseeker dragon, thanks to the Astorion Association's innovations in aetherite technology and support from the Council of Cadence. Through the manipulation of powerful magics and advanced technology, they bound the dragon’s power to keep the city aloft, making Brudenia a hub for magical and technological advances. It quickly became the magic and tech capital of Freyna, thriving on industries like airships, dunamancy, crystal magic, aetherite exports, and imports from across the land. Diplomacy flourished as the city attracted scholars, traders, and inventors.   However, beneath the surface of Brudenia’s success, corruption took root. Vecna, the undead lich-god, secretly embedded himself deep within the city's foundations, using Sarzedan's arcane energy to infect the minds of Brudenia’s leaders, the Council of Cadence. Under his influence, the council’s greed and corruption grew, and their decisions became increasingly malevolent.   Brudenia's eventual downfall came suddenly and mysteriously. Time itself fractured, and the city vanished in a cataclysmic event. Eyewitness accounts vary—some claim to have seen a massive fireball plummeting into the ocean, creating what is now called Cervaria. Others insist that the city shattered like glass, scattering pieces across the world. All that remained was a commemorative painting titled "The Fall of Brudenia," surfacing a month later, depicting its tragic end.   Today, rumors swirl around the Cervarian capital of Silverkeep, as some claim it bears a striking resemblance to Brudenia. Yet, with no proof beyond enigmatic tomes that erase their words after reading, these claims remain nothing more than speculation. The Cervarian Kingdom, for its part, has refused to comment.
