The Engraving Ceremony

On the change of the season, the Survivalist's Guild holds a festival in the great hall of Faur'ricai. This Festival is to commemorate the passed, share new stories, and initiate new Survivalists within the Guild.

The event is broken up into two stages. The first event of the party involves the great memorial walls within the halls of the city. Thousands of stories and and tens of thousands of names are engraved within the wall, and lit by holograms for all to read. Each name on the wall represents a person, each story beneath them represents a triumph, and the final space is reserved for the planet that serves as their resting place.

New initiates will be brought into the fold, their names etched on a blank section of the expanding wall by Meta sculpters. New accolades are given, and the best tales of the guild will me memorialized in writing. Those that have been lost, are remembered, and their final place of rest is revealed. During any of the engravings, other survivors are welcome to provide testimony to the engraving in question; be it backing up the deeds of another, or remembering the deeds of the lost.

The second half of the festival is dedicated to celebration and comraderie. The attending members walk the halls, swapping stories, tips, equipment, and experiences. Many will take the time to mourn and remember those they have lost, and take solace in their fellow survivors who surround them.

The Engraving Ceremony lasts for the majority of a day, anywhere from six to ten hours depending on the size of the new engravings needed.

I really like this. Such a wonderful way to remember those who came before.
