The Calamity is the defining moment that divides the timeline of the Eternal Universe, marking the transition between two vastly different epochs. When referencing historical dates, the designation of BC (Before Calamity) or AC (After Calamity) is always used to provide chronological context.

The era before the Calamity was one of great cosmic order and relative stability, though not without its conflicts and upheavals. This period saw the shaping of the Eternal Universe, the rise of the Eternals, the formation of mortal civilizations, and the events that eventually led to the Eternal War.

The BC era is often regarded as an age of divine intervention, where The Seven directly influenced the universe, guiding the development of its various realms. It was during this time that the Eternal Plane stood at the height of its glory, and the Eternal Servants carried out the will of their masters without question. However, as history progressed, the balance of power shifted, ultimately leading to the disastrous events of the Calamity.

The earliest records of the BC era recount the shaping of the universe by The One and the establishment of the fundamental planes of existence. The Primordial Age, the first known era, saw the creation of the Eternals and the structuring of cosmic laws that would govern all things.

Following the Primordial Age, the Age of Eternals was a time when The Seven ruled unchallenged. During this period, the Eternals refined their creations, guiding the growth of mortal civilizations and shaping the worlds within the Material Plane. The Eternal Servants, empowered by the Eternal Shards, played an integral role in maintaining order across the universe.

The Rise of the Rebel Ones

As the BC era progressed, tensions began to emerge between the Eternals and their Servants. The discovery that the Eternal Shards limited the free will of the Servants led to growing dissent. Tardok, one of the most influential Servants, became the leader of the rebellion, questioning the authority of The Seven and seeking autonomy for his kin. His defiance sparked a movement that would ultimately lead to open conflict.

The Eternal War

The Eternal War was the defining conflict of the BC era, marking the first true challenge to the rule of The Seven. The war raged across all planes of existence, with the Rebel Ones and the Loyal Ones battling for control. The once-flourishing Eternal Plane became a battlefield, and the destruction wrought by both sides pushed the universe toward a breaking point.

The Creation of the Unstable Shard

In a desperate bid to secure victory, Tardok and the Rebel Ones created the Unstable Shard, a fusion of fractured Eternal Shards designed to break The Seven’s control once and for all. However, the Unstable Shard proved too volatile, and when activated, it unleashed a cataclysmic explosion of Eternal Essence, triggering the Calamity.

The End of the BC Era

The detonation of the Unstable Shard marked the end of the BC era and the beginning of a new, fractured reality. The Calamity tore through the fabric of existence, merging planes, disrupting cosmic balance, and forever altering the course of history. The Seven, now weakened, were imprisoned in the Eternal Plane by The One, and the surviving realms struggled to recover from the devastation.
