Dēfuḡerm Monument

The Dēfuḡerm Monument was erected following the end of The Great War, particularly as a memorial for those who had lost their lives in the dissolution of the Oldfront Empire. It was erected by a joint council of all sides of the war in the same event upon which the national lines were drawn and the formal nations were created.   The creation of the monument was undertaken by a set of skilled artisans and inventors. There was a particular leaning to having the monumnet able to move, which was done to reselmble the evermoving spirits who were taken from their homes and lives because of the dissolution of the empire. One of the creators Arlan Hale implemented a single piece of hemotite that upon the night time, glows a deep red colour and becomes a liquid that flows through the steel mechanics of the monument. As a result, the piece of hemotite used in the monument is known as Hale's Blood.
The fields of the empire held many villages and people, the monument allows for us to remember those who lost their lives in its destruction. Its in my mind as a home for the spirits who live among the memories of people today...

Prominent Locale

The monument, while being dedicated to the lives of those lost during the course of the Imperial dominion of the Oldfront Empire and the Great War, was placed very precisely near a very unique and interesting location. The town of Dēkmain used to possess a powerful and strong citadel that held as a bastion of power for The Emprie. During the Great War, the town was overrun and bombarded by attacks from the loyalists of the empire.   The most prominent attack was caused by a group known as the Black Soul. This group of loyalists were, and still are, extremist in their views, holding that the old ways were the best and are the only way that people can survive a coming apocalypse. The religious extremists invoked a powerful and lethal rite upon the people of Dēkmain which led to many innocent civillians suffocating and decomposing from extreme starvation. The lands seemed to be scarred by the curse and as such no settlment was able to reclaim the area. By the end of the Great War, there was selections of flora and even small critters able to return to the area, but it remained as primarily a small area of dedicated savannah within a ream of grasslands. While the area doesn't impose on any other settlment, the 10 mile radius of the rite seems to have starved the region of nutrients and water for several years.   As the autrocity came to light over the course of the war and in its aftermath, it was decided as the location by the joint decision on all sides to commemorate the town of Dēkmain and its people first. That is why there is an inscription on the monument in Stanosian which reads as "Lay to rest now, your torment is over."

A Monument for All

As I previously mentioned, the monument was specifically dedicated to those who had lost their lives as both a result of the Imperial command and the dissolution of the Empire. However, many people have given the monument the name of The Soul Anchor, particularly within Arcanum and other orders aware of the presence of such spirits. This is particularly because of its capability to hold and preserve the spirits of those who have passed for a large variety of reasons.   I once visited the site of the Soul Anchor, as I approached it, I noted that my first generation Weird Detector was going off the scales in terms of how much sheer Weird it was able to detect. It is strange to even see such a high and vast amount of Weird in a single place, let alone in one that has such theoretical powers as connection with the dead.   When I visited, I stepped towards the monument and I heard the whisper of an old professor who once mentored me prior to my ascension as a Warden. It was a strange experience for even myself. As a member of Arcanum I have seen and accessed several powerful elements of the realm and yet this was a vast and diverse step beyond even where I have stepped before, hearing the voice of a person who passed many years before. The strange part was that the whispers were legible as different from phrases that I had heard him say while living, which makes me confused as to the nature of the monument. I believe that it is actually Hale's Blood that helps to invoke such strange powers in the monument.

Aww, I love the idea of a monument that remembers everyone. Hale's blood is a particularly cool detail.

Love the mixture of journal and fact when describing this wild creation - very mysterious, and it must be quite striking to look at, especially at night when its properties change so dramatically. Nice job!
