Brìghdeag’s Berry Cèilidh Bread (BREE-jak’s BERRY KAY-lee Bread)

Fried Bread with Cinnamon and Berries

There are so many ways to put stale bread to good use. There is in fact a second chance for bread that was fresh a couple of days ago and now seems dry and hard to eat. So don’t ever throw it (unless it’s moldy) but do something to reduce our waste of food.
Fried bread is no doubt a simple dish and you can go with the spices you like. You can even change it from sweet to savory if you prefer. Introduce fried bread to the breakfast or brunch table. Have it as a snack or serve it as a quick dessert.
Here is a family recipe.

Recipe Directions

Mix the milk, cream, cinnamon, salt, and eggs in a bowl. Put the bread slices into the mixture and leave them for a while to soak up some of it. Turn the slices to coat the other side as well.
Melt the butter and pan fry the bread slices on both sides until golden.
Serve at once with fresh berries and - you won’t regret it
