Cetoile

The Blessed Land of Stars

"But why, Bertrand, did you have to screw the chief?" the rogue cried as they ran through the forest, fleeing the battlesong of the Skaden warband behind them. "I am Cetoilais," the other rogue replied wistfully, bliss still tingling through his body. "It is our nature to love." His partner gave a groan and cursed his foolish past self for ever agreeing to ally with one of the passionate pastry-addled loons.

Structure

The Crown and Royal House Twelve duchies, representing the Twelve Stars, each ruled by a Duke or Duchess. Each duchy is made up of baronies, and each barony is made up of counties. The titles of Duke, Baron, and Count are heritable. Lords and Ladies are granted titles for exceptional service to Cetoile. These titles may only be bestowed by Dukes, Duchesses and The Crown. A Lord or Lady's children and True Heart may use their title, but is not heritable.

Public Agenda

Cetoile is a land largely content with its situation. It holds its borders, maintains polite and predominantly pleasant diplomatic relationships with nearby nations.

Assets

Cetoile is blessed with divine lineage and beauty. It is a sun-kissed land whose blessings are inherited from Thierrin and the Twelve Stars.

History

One thousand years ago, the Rumain Empire began to decay after the death of Hethe the Living God. Thierrin the wanderer began his journey, and eventually ended his long wanderings in the sunny lands of Cetoile. He and his Stars united the tribes that squabbled over the plains and hills in love and learning.

Religion

The primary religion in Cetoile is the Etoiline religion. Thierrin and the twelve angels from who all Cetoilais are descended are venerated and worshipped in this faith. Many other faiths are tolerated in Cetoile; Etoillisme, like Thierrin and his Stars, was at first persecuted in many nations, and the majority of Cetoilais have learned from this.   Yetheites are in some places persecuted, however, due to the staunch refusal of Cetoilais luxury.

Each appointment must be ratified by the Crown. In the case of the House Royal electing a person, a majority of Dukes and Duchesses must endorse the election along with the Magistrat en Chef, the head of the Bureau. Not all hearings are worthy of a judge, nor is it viable for a judge to be placed in every shire or town across Cetoile. Thus, journeymen clergy of x are given the power to make judicial decisions.
