Volume II
The Chronicle of Shadows
The First City
In the beginning there was only Vecna who was cast out.
Vecna was cursed forever with unlife and a thirst for blood.
It is Vecna from whom we all come.
After Lillith left and after Vecna killed the Crone he lived for the passing of an age in the Mountains of Night.
He returned to the world of Kine and was made welcome.
The people saw his power and worshipped him.
The mortals made him King of their great city, The First City.
Vecna ruled from the Black Basalt Throne.
But Vecna grew lonely in his Power.
He saw within himself the seeds of fertility to be a maker of his own.
And so Vecna Embraced the greatest of the Kine, making the Second Generation.
The first Kindred of Vecna learned the way of making Progeny of their own.
And were granted one Progeny of each, Antedeluvians or Elders of their Clan.
Nothing more is known of Vecna's first, never being seen again.
The city stood for many ages, and became the center of a mighty Empire.
However the world became unquiet, as his children wandered here and there, indulging their dark ways.
Vecna felt anger when children fought, deceived each other, and abused one another.
The Severing
He exiled the Sons of For-Ever Years from the world and severed the Elven Tree of Life.
This destroyed the shining reflection which started a chain reaction killing the soul of the world.
This marked the end of the Blue Age, with the rivers and oceans drying up.
This in turn destroyed the greenery of the world.
? Vecna led his Kindred and Kine to purge the dragons of the world, depriving their Celestials of their worship. He exiled the now weakened Dragon Royalty and tamed Roget the World Dragon.
