Shade Ink

This necromantic ink appears to be the absence of light making it darker than black. Held in ruby ink wells it seems to undulate with its own malevolence.

Origins

The ritual for crafting this very evil substance was granted by Maleskari, God of Shades to his most powerful mortal necromancers or priests. Following Maleskari's ascension to divinity, the Shade Ink is a smaller scale example of the Thousand Martyred Souls.

Crafting

To create the Shade Ink it requires the sacrifice of mortals, body and soul being distilled down to its raw spark. This is a very evil act.

Restrictions

Possessing any trace of the Shade Ink including ritual notes or instructions on its crafting or use are restricted. While the following of Maleskari in itself is not restricted the Shade Ink, sacrifice and any soul stealing magic is considered illegal.

Terephon

Terephon, the powerful necromancer of the Tower of Terephon crafts and uses Shade Ink for several of his most important dark tasks. The ink may be used to craft dark scrolls, apply necromantic runes to items and using the ink to animate or imbue some of his most powerful undead minions.

Medre Allaconda

The Vampire Medre crafts Shade Ink investing it with her own Vitae, giving it a twist. It is said that she crafts and enforces blood bonds and blood bond contracts which hold the divine weight of Maleskari and vampired Vitae.

Enemies

Priests of Locharit, the Goddess of the Written Word and Tardeshou, the Goddess of Truth are very vocal to the Commissar regarding the followers of Maleskari. They oppose them at every turn and vehemently challenge their rights to persist within the city eluding to what little they know of Shade Ink.
