When a creature is held tightly, having part of their body pinned.
A Grappled creature is essentially one that is wrestling with another, the two being locked in extremely close combat. One of the easiest way to apply this condition is to make a
Grapple Action, though there are other ways it can be gained.
While Grappled, a creature:
- Has their Movement reduced to 0 (preventing them from doing things like Standing.
- Cannot use anything with the Dashing trait.
- Cannot use the Rush Action | ◈◈ or the Stride Action | ◈, and cannot benefit from any movement bonuses from anything.
- Cannot use abilities with a Somatic component, due to their movement being restricted.
Grappled automatically ends when the creature escapes using a
Blink ability, or if the grappling creature becomes
Stunned. A grapple can also be broken by following the rules of a Grapple check (i,e, Rolling Athletics or Acrobatics vs the enemy's skill check or the DC to escape as an action).
Grappled is considered a step below being
Restrained.
