The Color Out of Space
If you haven't seen Richard Stanley's production of The Color Out of Space, you should rent it this weekend and make a night of it. If you have lights that react to the colors on your screen, turn that on highly reactive, it'll be worth it! Based on Lovecraft's novel of the same name, this film is one of my favorite cosmic horror films of all time and it drags me in every time I watch it and leaves me thinking for days. The questions surrounding this indescribable color have bounced around my brain for years and I believe I've finally found my answers in Beckettville.
The Good Place
I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of The Good Place, but it was a great show and I'd suggest giving it a watch if you're curious. Ted Danson's character Michael is a favorite of mine and has definitely influenced the way Hiram Beckett presents himself while in public.
Bioshock
I have to give a shoutout to Bioshock, specifically when it comes to the Big Daddies and genetic alteration concepts featured in the games. I've spent so many hours lost in the worlds created by the Bioshock team and adoring the beautiful games they design, they've brought me so much inspiration for the city of Beckettville.
