Mungoom

The Mungoom are an old species created by a dark and evil species, trapped inside their dimension of darkness. They are too weak to escape from there, except they can feast on souls. To do that a different dimension has to be close enough so they can reach out to fetch a nearby soul. This can only happen when a physical and an ethereal connection between both dimensions have been built, as is happened for many decades during the Ritual of Aziz. The Heart of Aziz, a black rock thrown out from the Mungoom dimension into space, that broke through the dimension layers and dropped onto Alana, built the physical bridge. The ritual performed by the Ondar built the ethereal bridge. That way, a Mungoom could fetch souls from Alana and is almost strong enough to break through the barrier between the dimensions by itself. Just one more soul is missing, and the Mungoom will use Alana as his unrivalled hunting grounds.

Anatomy

The species is a black and formless being, cloud-like, its movements switching randomly between rapid motions and wavering idle.

Biological Traits

They age slowly and have a different perception of time compared to most other beings.

Growth Rate & Stages

By consuming souls the Mungoom become slowly stronger. It takes about a hundred souls until a Mungoom is so strong that it is self-contained and can break the dimension barriers and leave its origin dimension.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Mungoom lash out to their prey with a psychic attack to separate their soul from their body, they do not need to attack physically.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Sunlight is deadly to the Mungoom, forcing them to stalk their prey only during the night or in dark buildings or caverns. When the environment is not completely dark, they hide in shadows or fissures.
