Aeskiin Ethnicity in The Garden that Burned | World Anvil

Aeskiin

The Aeskiin are the rarest form of Terranian known to Birtham, there is only one currently known to exist.
The rarity stems from the fact that they cannot be born only made, and the price is heavy. To become a Aeskiin, a person must consume the still beating heart of a Rockruk. Rockruk's, however, have historically been known to be one of the Terranian's natural predators and because of this the Terranian's tend to avoid the Rockruk colonies and mine in safer surroundings, hence there being no Aeskiin until unforeseen circumstances arose when four floors of the Geomaw mines collapsed.

Major language groups and dialects

Common, (Elemat) Terranian.

Culture and cultural heritage

Aeskiin are few and far between and are rarely documented as most don't fall under the public's eye.

Common Dress code

Normally thicker clothing like leathers and such, however this includes the addition of heavier metal accessories to bend when needed.

Art & Architecture

They use surreal styles and rugged types of art. The architecture is questionable in the sense of there isn't much of it around at this point in time.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

It is assumed that most Aeskiin follow Edenkiin customs.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

The Aeskiin don't have any birthing rituals. It is not considered possible for one to be born as an Aeskiin as most were originally Edenkiin that consumed the heart of a Rockruk, and as a result were then turned into Aeskiin.
In the first documented occurrence of a Edenkiin shifting into a Aeskiin, the Shouboul hardened from stone to some form of metal and their skin honed down to a soother surface. It is currently unknown whether or not a Fyrnkiin would be capable of this transformation, however, none have attempted and succeeded.

Historical figures

The first historically documented metal bender is Lydia Volf, age 5. She is known as Terran's most gifted blacksmith, and a friendly tourist attraction considering the fact that most people that hear about a 5 year old blacksmith don't believe it.
