Erlo is the oldest still standing settlement in the kingdom of Regeis on the planet of Rant. It was the kingdom's capital once but is only a culturally significant city.

History

The city was built around 9000 years ago, long before the kingdom of Regeis existed. A group of people from the Spectera species was traveling by water and found this vast valley. They settled in the best area and started building their city. Since the place was in such a good spot the size of the city grew quickly and people moved away to settle other little towns. The Kingdom was founded around 3000 years ago and is one of the oldest kingdoms on the planet.

Location

The city is located on either side of the largest river, which passes through the valley. The city has three bridges that pass over the river. The middle bridge also passes over a small island in the middle of the river.

Government

The city is ruled by the local major who follows the rulings of the kingdom of Regeis. The major is elected but sits his whole life on the position. He also has a council that is changed every 4 years.

Districts

There are eight districts. The two are on either side of the river. These two districts are the wealthiest part of the town. These two districts contain the government, the downtown, apartments for rich folks, hotels, and the harbor.
The other six districts surround the other two and are less wealthy. But they also contain commerce, culturally significant buildings, and other tourist spots.

What’s in a name...

The name Erlo means "home" in the ancient language of the kingdom of Regeis. This language is still spoken but has changed much since the settlement was founded.
