History of the coins
Porosan Crowns have been minted for several hundred years from the rich gold deposits across the country. The coin divisions have changed over time, and are currently sorted by size into a full crown, half crown, quart and halfquart. The names evolved into: crowns, halfs, cods and peps as each size coin had part of the royal crest on it.
Physical Description
The crowns were originally minted in gold across all values, but because the value of this material increased, the coins are now minted in a mixed alloy similar to brass which still has a gold-like appearance (if a little dull). Only the full crowns are still minted in pure gold and other precious metals, and these are valued by weight of material instead of coin face.
Economical Influence
With the influential trade of Porosa and its territories, Porosan crowns have become a common sight in the central regions of Melior and can easily be accepted in trade for local goods.
Cultural Influence
Due to the advanced minting techniques by the Porosan Royal Mint, many hold this currency in high regard and use it as a standard of quality. Modern machinery ensures that each coin is near-identical and incredibly hard to forge.
