Chapter I: Oppression

The Tyranny of Tok

General Summary

Flanked by sea, mountain, and desert, you find yourself in the remote Tok City of Averlund. The smell of fish punctures your nose in an unpleasant fashion. Making your way to the tavern, you find that this city is one of secrets and mysteries. Rumors of rebellion against the Tok Empire are whispered through the streets. Will you aid the lawful Tok Empire? Or join those that seek to rid the land of their tyranny?

A monk named Bimpkin from the southern mountains of S'mothun Cape finds himself north at a town called Averlund where he is met at the front gates by two unsuspecting guards. Not knowing what a drow is, they mistake him instead as an elf, calling him a "Knifer" as an insult in regards to his elongated and pointed ears. Searching him, they become shocked that he is not wearing a Pacification Bracer or "Pacbrace" as they seem to be calling it. Trying to cooperate with the local authority, Bimpkin is lead by the guard to a cell where he is to await the delivery of one bracer.

Fresh off the ship enters a silver Dragonborn soldier by the name of Teraxandion Kovash who takes a deep breath of adventurer, but soon regrets it as the pungent scent of fish violates his nose. He makes his way into town curiously seeing the drow being escorted into the barracks. Not wanting to interfere, he takes his time getting acquainted with the city, first inspecting the bustling markets and then to the tavern.

While in the cell, awaiting the Captain of the Guard, Bimpkin hears the echoing voice of a child named Ash from the sewers below his cell. Their conversation is soon interrupted as Captain Allius arrives. Hearing that the child is below the cell, he quickly dispatches a guard to apprehend the girl and stays at the cell questioning the drow monk of his intentions in Averlund. Affixing the Pacification Bracer, he releases Bimpkin who in turns heads to the tavern.

Ash took no time to begin to flee, knowing the sewers in this city like the back of her hand. However, she was caught unaware as a guard cut off her route and gave chase. Narrowly escaping the pursuit, Ash was able to slip away from the law; An occasion that happened all too often for the young Aasimar. Being hungry, and inquisitive, she made her way to the Timid Tortle Tavern.

The three strangers converged in the tavern where they introduced themselves to each other as well as the bartender and bar wench, Damu and Gretel. After some "drinks", Bimpkin and Kovash inspected a job posted on the bulletin board asking for assistance down at the docks. Deciding to head there together, they were quickly tailed by the young and curious Ash who was quickly spotted. They soon concluded that there wasn't much chance of them ridding themselves of her, and agreed to allow her to tag along.
