Iwate Settlement in DraKaise Battalion | World Anvil

Iwate

The city of Iwate is the only truly above-ground city in the nation of SosIwa. It is also the only true port city, facing the Iwate Sea with ports that rival the finest designs of Aegis. The stonework here has been what every great mason of the last millennia has cut their teeth on, the OidoroChu send every apprentice to finish a single piece of stone in the city as part of their graduation.   The best way to appreciate the effort that has gone into the design and experience of this city is to ride an Iceberg across the glowing sea and enter through the ports themselves. Pay to stand on the topmost bow and watch as the true grandeur comes into display. Then disembark ahead of the rest beneath the water. The clans have more presence here than you will see in any other city, the symbols worn are perhaps the most important information you need to know.   The OidoroChu, Hikakon, Hikori and Hikutsu are craftspeople. They will give you as much unwarranted trouble as you give them.   The Oichuhoshi, MeiKaise, MeiTakia, and Gendaisen are all probably adventurers or military. Be careful around them, their clan gives them authority that many of them aren't against using.   The MeiShoshi and OiShana are almost exclusively doctors if they have clan emblems on, and they almost always travel in pairs. Make way for them, if they are going somewhere, it's important.   And, finally, if you see clan emblems of the OsWas, OsMuie or OsFumee. Run, they are the militant priests that pride themselves on conversions to their particular brand of fear.   Be careful, indulge in the beauty of the city, and take a ride on the trains to any of the other SosIwan cities. It can really be a wonderful place!

The City of Dwarves, Trains and Clans

Dwarves own everything in Iwate. The clans having partitioned the available land in the founding of the city and all having survived to the current day has given them the monopoly on owning most of the city. This also means that new construction and improvements are extremely easy to make as much fewer people have to be convinced. The train tracks for transportation of people and goods are a direct result of this.   As, with this, Iwate is the only city with Trains acting as public transportation.

Demographics

The city of Kannak is one of very few cities in Ithungsida that doesn't have an overtly dominantly human population. Indeed, Humans are nearly equal in number to the goblins and hobgoblins that inhabit Kannak.

Humans

Humans hold the highest population, as they usually do, and they define most of the non-dwarven culture of the city.

Dwarves

While not the most populous, the dwarves are unilaterally present in every leadership position in Iwate and Iwasunna.

Elves

A number of elves actually frequent this city, due to it's proximity and trade with the Elven Collective of Uuku.

Lizardfolk

Many Lizardfolk have migrated up the rivers to the source of the Iwate Sea and settled in areas of the city.

Gnomes

To learn and grow. While they are a smaller population than others, gnomes frequent the city to a great degree.

Halflings

Many halflings join the Hikori clan as a way to learn about the world outside of Renai, this often means that they live in Iwate for only a small amount of time.
