Divine Eye

"You cannot magic-eyeball your way out of every situation, Marcus."
— professor Alistair warning his student over excessive use of magical items
The Divine Eye also known as the Eye of God is the single most important artefact known to the human society. According to the myth, God lost it while defending humans before the Hand of Evil. In order for them to visit Earth and not break any of the divine rules they set out at the beginning of all creation, God had to descend in a form of a mortal and thus was able to get injured.   The moment their eye has been striken out of their skull, it resumed its full power, banishing the Hand of Evil from the realm of mankind for good, and God returned to Heaven without it. Just moments after these events, the eye dimmed its light and disappeared. Since then, there are a lot of historical and folk tales about the Divine Eye appearing here and there, and there are many treasure hunters and magicians trying to find it and claim this priceless treasure for themselves. It is said to give the holder the power to see all things and know all things. It is the symbol of knowledge. The College of Astromancers have it on their Coat of Arms.   There are different accounts of what the eye looks like, but they all agree that it is a round item without any visible iris or pupil, emanating white pure light of varying intensity. Some people likened it to geodes and consider it to be hollow. As there is no one currently claiming an ownership of this holy relic, there is no way to find out.   The hunt for the Divine Eye is also a popular motive of pulp fiction stories which always renew interest in the history, travelling and the occult.

Trivia:
Magic-eyeball is a derogatory term used by practicioners to speak about either completely fake magic amulets and tools or those that are poorly made yet promising great results beyond their power. It is also used in situations when someone is trying to answer a complicated problem with a simple answer, neglecting the bigger scope of things.

Czech This Out: The obvious answer to this would be the crown jewels that are hidden in a chamber, locked by seven keys. The included wikipedia link has some nice photos of it all, including the St. Wenceslas's Sword. Things you see in the museums are usually replicas - the president decides whether or not and when the crown jewels would be displayed to public. According to the legend, if you put them on and are not worthy, you die within a year.

When all you have is a magic artifact, every problem looks like.. Something... Magically artifactily solvable.   If the back story for the artifact is true, does that mean god exists and is real in this setting? I know Hell is there, so... Are there any alternative takes? I'm not saying it might be aliens but it's aliens- type of deal? :D   Awesome stuff as always Tris :D

I wonder what would happen if someone found the Divine Eye. I feel like nothing good, for some reason.   I love that the phrase 'magic-eyeball' exists. I can just hear the exasperation in the quote.
