Temple of Knowledge

Some say that this high-walled fortified city was here long before the monks that currently inhabit its walls. The theory goes, that the first monks of Central Wuxia came across this temple in a state of vast disrepair. The monks knew that if they left, the temple would crumble and be lost forever. So instead of leaving, they stayed and rebuilt it from rotten boards to the shining stone pillars and courtyards you can see today. There are also rumors that a great treasure was found inside this temple.   And still, some others say the monks came to this place because they were called here by an ancient prophecy that's been long-lost to time. But for all the many mysteries of Central Wuxia, there is one thing that's clear as day: it is a place where anyone can find what they're looking for. Where any single child could come and learn to harness their inner self, or so some say.
In the central part of the Northern Jungle, you can find the Temple of Knowledge where martial arts monks train in Tai Chi. More than just a jungle training ground, the Temple of Knowledge houses the world's most complete map of Wuxia, along with the The Great Library of Knowledge .

Purpose / Function

Officially, the Temple of Knowledge is dedicated to one purpose: keeping Wuxia safe. This means that any visitor who comes to the temple is guaranteed a warm welcome and some hospitality. But if you ask any monk what they're really here for, they'll tell you there's much more to it than just hospitality.   They came to this place because they were called here by an ancient prophecy, a prophecy that's been long-lost to time. More than just a training ground in the jungle, here you can find all that's missing in your heart, so some say. The temple was really built by the monks, for the monks.   The foundation of the Temple of Knowledge was erected on a rocky slope overlooking a tropical valley. By carving out more rock and adding soil, they turned the rounded hill into a flat surface with enough room for the Main Hall and several smaller buildings such as kitchen, workshops, dormitories etc.

Alterations

The Temple of Knowledge really is a place like no other. As the monks have learned to understand Wuxia, they've also made changes to this high-walled fortress. The first building in the Temple of Knowledge was a small library, where they kept books to study and record their findings. Naturally, the monks built this into The Great Library of Knowledge  that has since become a center of learning for Monks of Wuxia. The rest are mostly dormitories providing shelter for up to five monks at a time, and stables for Tiger mounts.

Architecture

The Temple of Knowledge has a red-roofed ornamental architecture. The buildings themselves are made of a combination of stone and hardwood, as well as concrete. There are three main entrances to the temple: an ornamental wooden gate on the western side (where guests usually enter), a smaller iron gate on the eastern side (mainly used by monks for training purposes) and a third one in the middle of the southern wall.   A massive tower crowns the center of the Library of Knowledge. The tower is in the shape of a bamboo shoot towering above leaves and earth. Used as an observation point, the tower looks out over the rest of Central Wuxia .
