You give Dagan his space and you shut your eyes the rest of the ride #87

You let your head tilt back and rest against the rickety sides of the wagon. The creak of the wood and the sloshing of the wine in the barrels next to you, lull you to sleep. It’s been a restless night—and you find yourself dozing off.   You dream.   The great city of Andilain is on fire. The bright red and yellow lights glow across the night sky. People scream in terror as Mahan’s forces destroy building after building, executing every male discovered, both old and young.   You look around, but your friends are nowhere to be found. The three armies…the tent city itself, is gone. Not destroyed, but missing. It was never there. Nothing to defend the walls of Castle Andilain.   Trebuchet launch flaming boulders at the walls, magic fire erupting against enchanted stone.   You awake with a start, Valda’s hand on your arm.   “You ok?” she asks. You nod, but you sit up quickly.   You’ve arrived in the tent city.   Thousands of people litter the streets, moving about quickly, like bee searching for nectar—shifting, pushing, bumping past you. Trying to get your bearings, you stumble backwards into a sheep.   Firm hands grab you. “Watch yourself my young friend,” says Dorbane, “I gave my word to Dagan that we would escort him to his father.” He gives the young Kuttolum a nod, “To act at witnesses that he did not abandon his post.”   “Right,” you add, still feeling groggy and a bit shaken by the dream, “good idea.” You clear your throat. “We can escort Aggie back after that.”   “That’s the plan,” concludes Valda.       Dagan then leads you all through the maze of tents, merchants and check points, and into the dwarf-district.   Go to page #18
