Both religion and legends speak of a race beyond our touch...beyond sight, who rebelled against the jumälät and sought to take away our agency. Being who believed we could not be trusted with the ability to choose, so they waged war against the jumälät and Pääjuma.
The heavens trembled and in the end, those who followed the Dark One were cast down to this world, to be the tempters of mankind, forever denied their own flesh.

The unembodied were first mentioned in the book Prelude to a Hero.
