Run towards the kings highway #53

Awww, crap, you curse. You’re not thinking fast enough—they’re rushing towards the sounds…they’ll be on top of you any moment!
Just going to have to hope Valda and Dorbane get to the hostages quickly. You sprint away, kicking up leaves and stomping through the brush so even a deaf hunter could find you. The goal is to make your way to the kings highway.
When the torches stop, you loop around, making threatening sounds of a Tailmain, giving the impression that a beast is on the prowl. That’s the danger with Tailmain—they’re cold-blooded killers. A feared night predator, they have to be taken out before they sneak up in the dark and attack you. You know this will spur them on.
The soldiers are forced to pick up their pace. Woah, woah, WOAH! you panic, ducking low and diving under some dense bushes. Then they sprint towards you, swords drawn, torches in hand.
Before the light can reveal where you’re hidden, you throw a well-placed rock crashing through the underbrush, yards away.
The light instantly navigates away from you.
Dropping your face into your hands, you sigh in relief.
Way too close.
You lie still for a while, listening carefully. You hear shouts in the distance. They’re trying to find the beast that doesn’t exist. You know they’ll give up when they can’t find it—it’s too dangerous to leave hostages alone.
When all feels quiet, you venture back to the camp…and sure enough, the soldiers have returned and taken their posts. The hostages are still lying against the embankment. Blast!
