You bolt through the trees, making sure to kick up the leaves as you go.
The thing about a Tailmain, is they believe they’re smart AND invincible. They’re neither. So when the beasts are trying to lure their prey into the night, what they’re actually doing is showing humans right where they are.
Convenient.
Zig-zagging through the forest, you run further from the camp and the road, stopping only to make challenging grunts and snorts. The torch light stops several times, but a quick loop towards them eggs them on again.
Dorbane, you dense Kutollum, you better get those people out of there!
Unfortunately, your concern for the hostages and your friends distracts you. Tempting the soldiers wildly in a final loop to get them to pursue you, a wrong turn leads you into a small ravine.
Before you notice this, you give out another snort and growl as the torches come into sight.
…but there’s no way out of the ravine.
You’re trapped.
