Dorbane reaches over and grabs your arm.
“Let him be,” he whispers. “He needs to deal with his feelings in his own way.”
Right, what was I thinking—that’s none of my business. You nod silently and nestle back against the side of the wagon.
Your friend glares back along the road you’ve traveled. “I’d want revenge on those dung-eating soldiers for what they did to me. If it were me.”
Valda kicks your leg from the other side of the wagon and points. “We’re here!”
Sure enough, your rise over the last ridge and into the valley. You can see the massive city of Roland to the south, and up ahead, the famed tent city, surrounding Castle Andilain.
You gawk at the sea of cloth tents covering the open fields once used for agriculture. It’s now home to thousands of refugees and two foreign armies.
“So, fearless leader,” teases Dorbane, “where to now?”
