Weird Magic

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Weird Magic, also known as True Magic or Magical Magic, is a sort of Primal Magic utilized by hags and the Wyches of Hexadömonir to a lesser extent. Weird magic loses its potency the better it is understood.

Magic Use

While greatly misunderstood, Weird Magic and Pact Magic are under the supervision of Hacate, and strangely enough, are connected to Kas'shi , mainly Nyx.

Manifestation

Weird magic is aptly named; its effects greatly differ from each other, and most fail to fit into the generally accepted schools of magic. While the standard methodology of spell description often does apply to spells cast via weird magic, it is not always the case; when compared to spells with the same effect, more often than not completely different components are used (if any), and casting time may also vary.   There is no general case for weird magic. Each hag eventually develops her own spells and casting methods, which she teaches to her progeny; thus, a young hag cast spells in a similar manner to her "mother", but she too eventually will develop her own unique methods and spells.   Items created by weird magic are notorious for their quirks, and no two are ever the same, even those created by the same hag under the same circumstances. However, said items are not necessarily chaotic, and neither is the magic itself; this variance is somewhat deliberate.

Examples

  • Some of the trees in The Sylvan Kingdom of Eryndor are covered in the ashes of ████████████ █████ ███████ mixed with saltwater, with a brush whose bristles are slugs. This causes the tree to grow when exposed to fire, essentially fireproofing large portions of the Verdant Wilds.
  • Grandmother Yannenig is known to be able to grant wishes to another party by pulling out one of her teeth and using it to write a contract; she uses the tooth to etch it into a mossy treebark that was immersed in dog saliva for three days.
  • A hag in the Aderian Forest used a shovel to dig a small channel from a stream; her hut was at the endpoint of the channel. This created a small demiplane which contained her house, and could only be accessed if one would have walked on the right bank of the channel from north to south. This effect was often compared to a common spell, "rope trick".
