The Day of Endless/Darkened Sun

Harken Ye, Ye Longest Day!   Let Colored Bannaers stream and shake!   Let Faeries Dance Their Mirthful gait   And honeyed fruit the young have ate   May melt in mouths yet anticipate   of Endless Day, We Watch and Wait

History

The Day of Endless sun finds its earliest traditions in the roots of the Ageis Kingdom; At the peak of the Sun's trek across the endless heavens, the farmers would gather and hold a great feast in celebration of a successful planting season. As the sun would not fully set until far, far late into the evening, the party would stretch on into the late hours without need for torches.   As the kingdom grew games were added, and a parade of fanciful creatures said to bring good luck to the harvest and the fishermen following the summer winds. By the kingdom's peak, The capital of the Ageis Kingdom was awash in colorful banners and fanciful pigments for an entire week.   The Day of Darkened Sun, however, is a more... recent invention of the archeological world. Upon the discovery that King Ignatius IV's advizor, Vizar Quelar, was an Evil Wizard of the worst kind, speculation abounded as to the true purpose of his secluded summer villa. In short, that the Vizar enacted a ritual called 'The Day of Darkened Sun' to bring the Kingdom to ruin in a rain of darkness and fire. The fact that the Ageis Kingdom was destroyed by a volcano during a solar eclipse does little to discourage this theory. The Archeological world is currently in heated disagreement as to whether the Day of Darkened Sun truly existed, or if it lives only in the minds of the easily distracted.

Components and tools

A curious tool was found in the Iverson Site; A fish-headed spout with a small barrel on one end. Although speculation abounded for decades about its use, recent events have put forth the following theory:   The tool in question was used to gather the blood of Virgins slain in the Pool of Sacrifice, then pour the blood out upon the Cursed Stones that gave the Evil Wizard his power. Any that remained was feasted upon fresh, as to imbue the purity and innocence of the slain upon those who had long since lost theirs.   After long discussions with Mages both in an outside of Archeological circles, it was eventually agreed that the item in question was used to feed the fish in the fish pond.

Observance

The Day of Endless Sun was celebrated on the Longest Day of the Year, at the beginning of the summer season. Although the kingdom that once celebrated it has long since faded, many aspects of the tradition remain in modern culture, such as the parade of Fairie Taels.
