Mother Daedara

Mother Daedara is an Archfey of the Unseelie Court, and the Mother of Hags. She appears in the form of a kindly old lady, and appears sweet at first glance. However, she is anything but.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

While Mother Daedara appears to be frail and thin, her strength is actually surprising. She uses green magic to augment herself, providing artificial strength and stamina.
Without this magic, she is not very physically strong, nor is she particularly dextrous. She is very resillient, however, both to magic and physical attacks.

Body Features

Mother Daedara has a somewhat hunched-over appearance, which is also further extended by her storing baskets or other materials on her back beneath her cloak. She is small and wiry, and does not appear to be a threat. This appearance is intentional - she enjoys it when people underestimate her.

Facial Features

Mother Daedara has bonier and sharper facial figures, with a small barely-present nose, crooked teeth, and line-thin lips. Her skin is very wrinkled, and she has an ever-present smile.

Identifying Characteristics

Mother Daedara's hands are long, blackened claws, with what looks like necrosis creeping up her fingers. She has unnaturally long fingers, which come to an eerrily sharp point. When asked about her hands, the only comment she has been known to make is "Well, they're awfully useful in peeling apples for apple pie!", accompanied by a chuckle.

Special abilities

Mother Daedara is incredibly talented at magic, particularly in green, red, and black magic. She is able to physically (or mentally) enhance herself or her hags with her green magic, manipulate the blood and health of those around her with red magic, and has a strong connection to nature with her black magic.
While no one has fought against Mother Daedara and lasted longer than a few seconds, a more substanitial fight against her may consist of her first targeting you with red spells around mid-range in power to discern your strength, and if you survive, she would begin to strengthen herself with green magic. In a longer fight, she may use black magic to cause the terrain around her opponent to become difficult to traverse, or bring vines upwards from the ground in an attempt to entangle them.

Apparel & Accessories

Mother Daedara can be found wearing hooded cloaks at nearly all times. These cloaks, generally browns or greys in colour, are equipped with a wide vareity of pockets, where she stores herbs, spell components, and alchemical ingredients. She has rather tattered clothing that she wears beneath her cloaks, and she is rumoured to have been wearing those same clothes ever since she became an Archfey.

Specialized Equipment

Mother Daedara carries a large wooden staff almost twice her height around with her everywhere. The staff is large, gnarled, and almost black, and she uses it to cast spells. This staff also is her connection to her domain, allowing her to have a stronger connection ecen over long distances because she herself is not spending energy to maintain this connection.
She has an abundance of cauldrons, pans, utensils, cooking and alchemical supplies, which she uses almost daily. She is near always cooking something, and her domain smells like a strange mix of pastries, potions, and blood.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Mother Daedara is the second oldest of Yxjun's "children", younger only than Grander - however, it has been rumoured that she had lived for decades or even centuries before then. This topic has sparked much argument between her people, the hags, and Grandar's dragons. However, neither of the Archfey themselves will comment on this dispute, so the true answer to this remains up in the air.

Gender Identity

In the loosest form of the word, Mother presents as feminine. However, her femininity does not come in the form of youth or beauty, but in the same sense as an adorable old woman who enjoys baking pastries - though, in her case, these pastries may be made out of some... unsavoury ingredients.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Mother Daedara is responsible for the creation of the hags, a species of people who are created from willing members of other species. She sees herself as the mother of each of these hags, and insists on being addressed and referred to solely as Mother, especially by her own people.

Failures & Embarrassments

Mother Daedara herself in incapable of having children, much to her chagrin. This was part of her motivation in creating the hags, and is a source of soreness for her. She does not appreciate this fact being brought up, and has a tendency to react violently at the suggestion that she is not a real mother.

Mental Trauma

While the specifics of her upbringing and life before becoming an Archfey are unknown, there is a bit of speculation in scholarly circles regarding the study of the Feywild or the Archfeys. Many believe that she may have experienced some sort of traumatic experience regarding childbirth or motherhood, while others argue that she has always been sterile and could not have ever had a true child.

Social

Family Ties

Other than her belief that all of the hags are her children, Mother Daedara's adoptive father is Yxjun, the Archfey of the Unseelie Court. He is the only person that she will allow to not call her Mother, and she does respect him to an extent. However, she is the only of his children who is not afraid to go behind his back for her own means,

Social Aptitude

Despite how she may sometimes act, Mother Daedara is acutely aware of the emotions, and sometimes desires, of those around her. She is very apt at picking up on smaller social cues, glances between friends, or discomfort. However, the way she reacts to these is not the same as most.
If she senses discomfort in a visitor, she will often not acknowledge this discomfort, but "innocently" continue to do the behaviour that caused this discomfort in the first place, often until the person lashes out and causes her to become angry. This is often a game to her, poking at the comfort zones of people who visit her to see how much they'll take.
If she senses a genuine pleasure in someone around her, or percieves that they are genuinely thinking of her as a mother figure, this person will immediately become a favourite of hers, and she will offer them gifts and attention in exchange for theirs. This is also a trap, however, because she will not want such people to leave, and will want to keep them around, somewhat simiarly to how one would keep a pet.
If she picks up on nonverbal communication between a group of people, she will not give any signs that she has done so. Instead, she will simply continue to pay attention to this communication until it becomes something she does not like, in which case she will respond to it. This takes the form of her saying something revealing that she knows what they are talking about, so that she can watch them panic and backtrack upon realising she knows what they had been communicating to one another.

Mannerisms

Mother Daedara acts like a very kind and well-mannered old woman, despite some of her quirks. She speaks in a sweet, higher-pitched and smoother tone, and is incredibly hospitable. She offers food and drinks to all of her visitors, though the contents of these consumables is often tabboo.
However, she is an entirely different person when she is angry. There are a few things that will set her off, such as mentioning her lack of biological motherhood, directly refusing her requests or directly disagreeing with her, and outright, direct refusal of her "gifts", among other things. Conversations with her are often akin to walking on eggshells, as many of the things that she says or asks revolve around her own morals, with no concern for the desires of others.
