The Circlet of the Past is an artifact of Syrenna, made by one of her high priests from shards of the Mirror of Lost Futures. The circlet is magically enchanted to fit the head of the person who puts it on, though the broken shards can still hurt or even cut the wearer. The crown remains in the Grand Temple of Syrenna in Intra, a city in the south of the continent of Prospera.
The circlet is particularly useful for restoring blocked, altered, or lost memories. Because it does not access the memory of the wearer, but rather directly the wearer's past, it is immune to alteration unless time itself has been changed. It does have some very limited use in the justice system, where defendants willingly agree to undergo this process while sharing their senses with an unbiased member of the court. However, this is less common in recent years Syrenna's church is more wary of the crown being removed from their temple's premises.
Purpose
The Circlet of the Past was made for and serves a very specific function. Where the Mirror that the circlet was made from shows the future, the Circlet causes its wearer to reflect into the past. Upon donning the crown, the wearer begins to have lucid visions of their past, either interacting from their own point of view, or simply watching as an unattached third-person observer. This process occurs over the span of a few minutes, though can feel like hours to the person experiencing it.The circlet is particularly useful for restoring blocked, altered, or lost memories. I really like the idea of the crown being used in court cases. It's a shame that they don't get to do it much.
the church doesnt control the security once it leaves the premises, so all it took was one attempted theft
