Vega Prime Mine Shaft One

Mine Shaft One used to be the source of the first titanium used during the early days of the creation of Vega Prime In recent years has become the entrance to the city-under-the-city.   Hundreds of thousands of people who slipped through the cracks of the civilized world and no longer count themselves in the billions living amongst the stars and on the skyscrapers of Vega created a city fed by the discarded items and machines of the world above.   Contrary to common belief the Shafters are proud people and most of them are not involved in any criminal activity whatsoever. They have used the shaft and expanded creating a thriving community living into a maze of underground tunnels.   The basic structure of the mine provided a large and clear path that connects all areas of the underground city but within the last 300 cycles the size of the city tripled and new sections connected MS1 with MS2,3 and 5 creating a network spanning almost 250 square kilometers.

History

Hours after the first landng the automated systems of the U.E.F Paris scanned the area around the landing to confirm the measurements taken from orbit and the automated first-contact drones.   Folowing the confirmation of the results the automated mining drill AMD01 has been assembled and the construction of the VPMS1 started. The primary goal of this shaft was to provide the much needed Titanium required in order for the initial base of operations to be constructed.   Years after this first operation, long after the mine was depleted and the colonists awoke the mind was sealed. The area that the mine's entrance was, was redeveloped into one of the nine skytowers (arcologies) surrounding the sight of the First Landing   In recent years there are rumours circulating that the mines have been rediscovered and now used by those who fell through the cracks of the ecumenopolis above the ground.
