Aurelio of Coruscion
Aurelio was born the son of a long line of farmers. In the time of his birth, the Empire was a dream held in the hearts of a few idealists and nothing more. Coruscion, a small region in Morbhaine's west was hinterland ruled over by a baron, who answered to a king, who ostensibly answered to the high king in the Moran capital of Nerco. Of course, intellect and curiosity is not bounded by circumstance of birth, but no one would have guessed this hayseed was capable of sensing (but not using) the flows of magic, and they certainly would not have assumed he would lay the foundations of arcanology and the Morbhaine Empire.
Aurelio is one of a scant few recorded cases of arcalysis; the ability to sense magic without the faculties to use it. Most people with arcalysis live their lives like others without the capacity for magic; that is to say they take their extra sense for granted, or find it annoying and wish to be rid of it. Aurelio instead saw it as a gift, and used it to explore reality. He was the person who proposed that magic is a fusion of internal will and external energies.
The Sharpest Tool in the Shed
Aurelio was always curious, and among his family, he was the only one who could sense the elemental currents that danced through the world. In this age, magic was less harnessed. It was a wild, miraculous force of nature that the gods controlled. Aurelio was willing to cede to traveling mages that this may be the case, but the gods could also control the flow of seasons, the growth of crops, the birth of creatures, and these all worked in accordance with a system either deific or natural in origin. Even the tides worked to a system, controlled by the moons. There must, then, be a system to all things, but the senses of mortals are limited; so to must their understandings be.Aurelio is one of a scant few recorded cases of arcalysis; the ability to sense magic without the faculties to use it.
