The Temple of Phar Building / Landmark in Tamyrh | World Anvil

The Temple of Phar

To followers of the Kai-Dahl, Phar is the healing facet of the Seven Aspects.

Purpose / Function

From 1537 until 1813, the building served a dual purpose; housing the Jadys family and as their corporate headquarters as they managed the local Tellium mine.
From 1813 until 2598, the building was Diaspora 12's (Astel's) City Hall and Temple of Kai.

Devotees of Kai refurbished the old garden and placed an Altar to Phar in the heart of the space. Hospice beds are located along the windows behind the Altar. They are quietly attended by trained medical volunteers and Acolytes of Phar. Prayers can be offered to Phar on behalf of the sick, but truly, this is a place of Spiritual healing. Followers of the Kai-Dahl come to unify the Seven Aspects within themselves before they die.

The green-tinted glass panels were gradually replaced with colorful panes of recycled, luminescent glass and light-refracting spheres. By 2532 the conversion was complete, and now the space is filled with gentle, colored light and rainbows from dawn to dusk. At night, the windows glow with soft light, giving the interior of the room a peaceful ambiance.

Alterations

The stained glass windows of The Temple of Phar are highly visible on the North side of the building. Nothing else has been done to the exterior of the building since its initial construction.

Architecture

It's an odd mixture of styles.
The bones of the structure predate the Korlo refurbishments, and appear to be molded bedrock held together by long, forged Tellium rods. The technology to do this type of construction has been lost. Korlo engineers used this foundation and built up from it. In place of bedrock, they used marble and a specially engineered
concrete.

History

There are no records going back far enough to chronicle the construction of this site, only that the Korlo domed and refurbished it when a large Tellium deposit was detected under it in 1537. The building that now houses the Temple of Kai (including the Temple of Phar) used to be the corporate offices and home of the Jadys family, a lesser branch of the Makon.
In 1813, when Lorsa Cluster was complete, the Jadys family left. "Diaspora 12" and its mine were consigned to the newly established Diasporan Canton.

The Canton converted the building into government officers and a Temple of Kai. The Temple of Phar is located in the former hydroponic garden of the old residence.
