Thatur The Ledger Lord Character in Tairos | World Anvil

Thatur The Ledger Lord

Thatur is a god that many scholars, historians and philosophers enjoy talking about. He represents an evolution in worship that so rarely happens. In the earliest of text Thatur was seen as a diplomat, record keeper and impartial judge among Thairos’ pantheon. However, at some point following the Fang Crusades Thatur came to be associated with thieves’ guilds, loan sharks and criminals.

Prayers to Thatur were historically ones asking for good fortune, fair bargains and retribution for promises broken. When the Fang Crusades ended and the Plague of Undeath spread, merchants feared to travel far, trade was kept within safe borders and the need for a god of commerce slowly waned. Whether by Thatur’s direction or pure serendipity his worship gained momentum among those who were bold enough to leave the cities in those dangerous times. Criminals.

Loan Sharks would make their marks swear upon the sigil of Thatur. Thieves’ guilds would make informal prayers to the Ledger-Lord for success in their nightly heists. Assassins would carry his holy book, the Red Ledger, with them on their long and bloody journeys.

Thatur’s worship established a code of ethics by which reliable criminals could be counted on to abide . It also created a culture of superstitions among them. Breaking an oath sworn to Thatur might come with years of misfortune. Slaying a business partner or collaborator unjustly could lead to the unleashing of Thatur’s Hounds upon the promise breaker.

It’s said Thatur would frequently send omens to his faithful in the form of a single newly minted coin found in places where no coin should be found such as deep in a forest, inside a sealed crypt, within the belly of a promise-breaker or the peak of an untouched mountain.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Thatur's symbol is a hound's head with a coin above its brow. His favored weapon is a dagger, the weapon of travelers and merchants. It is often used to represent him as well.

Tenets of Faith

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Yes, deity extension is super helpful! In fact, now that it's open for use the last six articles i've done have all been deities.
