OraNote

With each version of our flagship product, we have sought nothing less than to provide the best device for you, our beloved customers. With the new OraNote Ultra, we firmly believe that we have crafted the most powerful tablet of its kind, greater than even uniquely commissioned computers in military installations. With this, the world is at your fingertips.

The OraNote is a type of portable computer, manufactured and sold by Je'Oran Technologies throughout the many countries of Yutromorch. Far outselling any competing product, they can be found in nearly every home, school, and workplace in the region.

Construction and Materials

Like most portable screens of this nature, OraNotes are powered through the magic crystals unique to Yutromorch. Aside from the larger catalyst crystal that acts as the devices battery, OraNotes use both Light and Flow tendency crystals to create the visual display, and to keep track of users' touch inputs. More expensive versions of OraNotes may also use Temper tendency crystals to better track these inputs, though these are far rarer and high-end.   The cases for OraNotes are made from lightweight metals such as aluminium alloys, while the screens are made of a Light Crystal infused glass. Je'Oran Technologies also manufactures protective cases for their devices, made of various coloured leathers, plastics, and metals.

Function

OraNotes are touch screen devices, which allow uses to manipulate the visuals on the display to browse the internet, play games, and write messages. They are also capable of manifesting small holograms above the surface of the screen, allowing users to see more information at once, though these holograms cannot be interacted with in the same way that the displays can be. Multiple OraNotes can be connected using cords to extend the display, or to use the holograms as interesting art installations.

History

Various types of portable computer have existed for many hundreds of years, and have been attempted since the first non-portable computers were invented. The OraNote specifically was developed by Oran Je'Darach in around 9179, while they were working for another tech company. Rather than sell their design to their employer, Oran resigned and took a few years to further refine their device, and founded Je'Oran Technologies in 9184 to manufacture and sell the product. This first edition, known simply as the OraNote, was only barely a success, but enough to keep the company afloat to develop a second iteration, the OraNote 2.   This second version found far greater success, hitting at just the right time in the life cycle of another corporation's device to find an audience among customers wanting an upgrade or refresh. With this, the company was able to greatly expand, opening up branch offices various towns throughout Oyrian. Version 3 was more successful still, solidifying Je'Oran Technologies' place in the market and allowing expansion into other countries in Yutromorch.   Each subsequent version of the OraNote has been a hit, though some less than others. Notably, the OraNote 9 in 9219 initially launched well, before a spate of 'catastrophic' hardware failures forced the recall and discontinuation of that line entirely. While the cause of these malfunctions was never defined by Je'Oran Technologies, many speculate that there were faults with the crystals used for the batteries, which lax standards at their factories had failed to notice or address during manufacture. Despite this setback, the OraNote 10 was able to perform quite well just a few years later, restoring the company's image in the public.

Prominence

Though OraNotes are not the only tablet on the market, they are by far the most common, especially in the countries of Oyrian and Coragensa.   Such is the high adoption rate of OraNotes that many young people throughout Yutromorch are more familiar with its touchscreen keyboard than with the use of traditional writing tools like pens. Debate abounds over whether Je'Oran Technologies has any responsibility to encourage older writing forms.
Oh, of course, the crime of creating a product the market desires! And for that sin, we're now responsible for the consumers' unrelated actions. Be'ari forbid they accept their own fault and do anything about it, no no, we have to fix their mistakes. I find the whole matter pathetic. Who cares about writing anyway?
