The Obelisk

The huge gorka orc with the great ax rushed the human, the head of his weapon slicing through the ground next him, sending up a huge cloud of dust. There was the sound of metal hitting metal, and then a scream of pain from the orc that was cut off suddenly. The dust settled, and the human readjusted their footing as the gorka's headless body tumbled to arena's floor. --9th of Platinum, Year 50

Purpose / Function

The official arena of The City of Stadupglod where duels to the death often take place for amusement, punishment, or to settle debts between civilians.

Architecture

Made of greystone, the Obelisk can seat fifty-thousand spectators on stone bleachers. The arena itself is a smooth dirt circle three-hundred yards wide often stained with drying blood.
