Sparkling Sap
What kind of ingredients do you put in your potions?
You asked out of curiousity.
Great question! Pretty much anything with a hint of magic can be used to make at least one potion. Some ingredients are more useful than others. Sparkling sap is one of those - we put it in almost everything. It's used as a flavour enhancer, to bring out the magic in a potion. And it makes it taste nicer, too.
Interesting. Where does it come from?
Pretty much any magical plant produces sparkling sap, in different quantities. A small flower will produce very little, but a giant tree can fill cauldron after cauldron. I get enough from my greenhouse to supply all of my potions. It's very sparkly, and kind of sticky. Wear gloves or you'll be scrubbing glitter off your hands for weeks. One time a bird got into a pot of sap on my desk... poor thing can't fly anymore.
You looked up to see shelves upon shelves of bottled sap, neatly organised with harvest and expiry dates. The older sap seemed duller, with less sparkles. You reach out to pick one up, but you pause when you notice the sparkles in the bottles follow your hands. You wave your hand slowly around the bottles, and watch as the sparkles trace your movement.
Oh, yeah, it does that.
It's so weird, kind of freaking me out.
You glance over at him and notice a weird look he's giving you.
Did I... say something wrong?
Hmm, no, it's fine. I just don't see what's so weird about it. The joys of magic. If you want weird stuff, I'll show you weird stuff. Just prepare yourself.

Okay, so ... what's the weird stuff? For a magical component the sparkling sap sounds rather ... normal :D
