Karancha Desert

Legend
The Karancha Dessert is a large, unhospitable country located around the equator of Solivity. Home to the many different Karanchan Clans, the land itself is harsh and hard to live in. Extreme heats, lack of easily accessible water and constant warring between clans has made the Karanchans a fierce and hardy people. Any non Karanchan would find immense difficulty in traveling through the desert, there are countless dangerous creatures living in the sand, a lack of easily accessible food and water, and disputed clan borders that aren't present on any map.
Due to the difficulty of the environment Karanchans have had to adapt in many ways. Each clan’s village has a centralised well reaching underground rivers. Due to the inability to grow crops easily, they primarily live off of livestock some regular farm livestock as well as more unique creatures like Sand Crawlers and snakes. Some clans have access to caves under the village that assist in accumulating water and due to the damp and shaded nature of a cave, grow food that require little crops. Clan Tulana and Clan Rock are both settled in mountainous terrain which has provided them with such caverns. There are four clans with access to fresh flowing water which allows them to grow crops suitable for the heat and environment, Clan Luman and Clan Hunan are both settled next to lakes on the edge of the Karanchan Desert. Clans Wayfer and Aluya are settled on the banks of the Rennal, these clans provide crops to the rest of the Karanchans through trade, the clans on the Rennal also control most of the imports into Karancha being two large trading ports.

Trade

The Karancha doesn't have its own economy, their lives are hard enough as is that they have no need to make it more complicated with money. Trade between the clans is done via bartering. Each clan have their own produced goods or resources:

Clan Terran - Breed the best Sand Crawlers of any of the clans, their beasts all come from prime stock, their Sand Crawlers are very rarely used for livestock and instead are used for travel or war.

Clan Rok - Provide masonry and raw metals to the other clans, they live next to a large mountain range where they have various mines and quarries.

Clan Rulan - The village is located within a valley home to many breeds of snakes, the live alongside them and breed them to use their skin to produce goods traded to the other clans, things like clothing, armours or other household items. They also trade the meat and venoms acquired from farming the snakes.

Clan Luman - This village is located on Bright Lake, a large body of water located in the northern most part of the Karancha Desert, due to their access to water their primary export is food, grown and livestock, fishing and grown resources like cotton for the other clans.

Clan Tulana - The clan live on top of a ridge with access to a cave system below, the caves are used for cave farming as well as homing for the clan.

Clan Jul - The village is set between two large mountain ranges, they act as a border between Burana, Daran Remant, Tal-Rena and the Brightwoods. Do to this the clan deal mainly in trading with those regions and provide extremely high quality goods from the Academy.

Clan Sun - They live atop the highest peak in all the desert, their primary duty is to act as border guards for the Haranas border. They breed and train Sun Falcons, their names are derived from their bright orange yellow colours. They're often used for hunting by the other Clans, their other primary trade is wind instruments that can often be heard from the peaks of the mountain.

Clan Kalla - The clan guard the border between Burana, due to their close proximity to the Julana Pass they acquire lumber from them and produce fine wooden weapons and crafts from it.

Clan Bena - Due to their close proximity to the two main shipping lanes in and out of Karancha, the Bena's protect the greater area, they also offer their protection to trade caravans venturing into the desert, some outlander merchants do venture into the desert and often hire a Bena guard.

Clan Hunan - They guard the northern border and provide large amounts of fish and aquatic plants to the other clans. They provide food and raw resources.

Clan Wayfer - Primary shipping hub, they deal with most trade in and out of the desert.

Clan Aluya - Secondary shipping hub, they deal with the more, specialised trading into the desert. Sometimes there's things that merchants want to trade but they want them to be kept off the books so to speak, most people know you can go to Aluy Bay to move these wares.

Clan Goja - The Goja are a special case among the clans. Most clans will trade with each other with little to no issues. The Goja have a negative relationship with all the other clans, they live in the worst part of the desert, it's the hottest and most inhospitable part with hazards everywhere. They believe all other clans hate them and are constantly fighting the other clans. The Goja posses an extremely valuable resource however, they produce the best weapons possible within the Karanchan desert, no one is sure how the quality of their weapons surpass any of the other clans but in exchange for marked up goods the other clans will trade with them for metal weapons.

Karan Council - All clans are required to provide a portion of their produced goods to the Karan Oasis, this is their major village where the clans meet, no combat is allowed here, the village is ruled by all the Clan Elders, if any major decision is made for the desert, it is made by the Council.
