Meeraz's treasure

Year 568, era of the Movement

A piece of the Creator

"Someone has a parcel for me but they can only give it to me while they are working in the Thereada Island and only adventurers wanting to help with the crocodile problem or workers are allowed in the island right now, so I'd love if you two could grab that job and the parcel for me!" said Azura while a warm smile as she pushed two stew bowls towards us.

We are reaching the island thanks to Ledi's help. It's been a bit since I've seen Ledi so she was excited and a bit angry with me, my sister, on the other hand, had been visiting her on the stables quite often and paid for her stay on the stables. Ledi took a second to stretch her wings before she even allowed us to get on her, I've mentioned to my sister that we should take her on swims more often but the only thing she replied is that maybe I should visit Ledi some more, like she's been doing. I don't understand why she's angry with that...

The island was quite filled with guards and farmers, each doing their own job. Right as we got down from Ledi, a guard stopped us to ask what where there for and we showed the job's paper. One of the guards started taking us through the island, towards the problematic area and explained us the situation a bit. Azura showed us a newspaper that talked about it, but the guard had a bit more information.

He explained a bit the measures taken to keep the crocodiles in place, as well as how the guards are keeping a close eye to them. Guards themselves aren't moving the crocodiles out yet as they don't have enough numbers to keep peace and move them out, thus why they are asking adventurers help.

I was distracted talking with the guard when I heard my sister be surprised and then me crashing into her. "What are you..." I couldn't even finish my sentence when I saw what she was looking at. My mouth dropped open and left me breathless.

In front of us, standing four people tall and two wide is a bright white obelisk of sorts, with bright clouds of coloured dust surrounding it and shining in different colours, like a piece of The Creator... The guard look at us and asked if this was the first time seeing one of these obelisks, and we both nodded, without taking our eyes from it.

He explained to us that they are commonly known as "Pieces of the Creator" or simply as "Bright obelisks", there's a more scientific name but he keeps forgetting it. These pieces have been here for longer than people have and all have the same colours and brights. This one in specific is the reason this is the best farming island of Meeraz, as it brings light for plants to grow and even creates it's own rains, they even assume it also improves the soil somehow.

He started walking and we followed him again. Barely. At least me, as I couldn't take my eyes from it. It felt warm and had a humming sound that felt peaceful —which the guards assumes is why the crocodiles haven't been as much of a nuisance as they should have been. Before I could take my eyes off of it, I saw the eyes of a shady figure looking straight at us from behind the obelisk.

I ran towards the figure, it looked a lot like the one from the caves and I deserved some answers, but when I reached where I saw it, there was nothing but a small note saying "Tell Azure about me". Looking behind me, the guard and Naela looked at me, confused, but asked nothing and kept walking as I started following them once more.

At one point, I left my sister with the guard and went to explore a bit the island. Well, I went to find Azura's contact, but I didn't wanna tell the guard that that was the real reason we were there. She told us where to find him and thus it wasn't too hard to find him. He didn't say a lot, he gave me a parcel and made me promise I wouldn't open it, not that I was interested in doing that.

As I was returning to my sister and the guard, the Creator was darkening, warning of the night time, so as soon as I found my sister, we had to excuse ourselves and leave the island. My sister promised she would come back tomorrow to help but I said nothing.

Crossing past the obelisk once more, and it was still as impressive but even shinier. The white of the rock —is it rock?— was darkening in a similar way as the Creator was doing, yet, instead of the Creator, it didn't start showing the starry pattern in the rock. I'd love to come back and stare at this for the whole day. We heard stories about rocks like this at our hometown but never saw one...

Poor Ledi indeed :( Surely we'll get to see more Ledi, right?

Sit down, my friend, and let me tell you of Aran'sha . A world where the sands shift and the stars sing, where the wind carries secrets and the twin moons keep silent vigil over it all.
